Starting to edit the film

Image
Today, we kicked off our editing session, but before diving in, we thought it wise to strategize our approach. We decided to research different editing software options to optimize our workflow. Despite my prior experience with editing programs, I felt exploring new software might enhance our video quality. I delved into popular options like Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, and Wondershare Filmora, only to find many were beyond our budget. However, some free programs showcased promising features for improving our video. Among them, CapCut stood out as a familiar choice, as my groupmates and I had prior experience with it. Once we settled on CapCut as our primary editing tool, we geared up to start editing the video promptly. I requested the footage from our groupmate responsible for recording. Upon receiving it, I initiated the process of assembling the videos within CapCut. Prior to diving in, I ensured to create a shared project within the app and shared it with all group

Fixing up the film

Hello blog, I'm back! Today, our group resumed the video editing process, and we collectively agreed to divide the workload among ourselves to streamline the process. We opted for a shift-like system, akin to a job, to enhance efficiency and communication within the group. Initially, one of my groupmates took the first shift, tackling specific segments of the video. I then took over for the second shift, delving into the editing process myself. Upon starting, I noticed that my groupmate had already trimmed unnecessary parts of the video, yet it still exceeded the time limit. This prompted me to consider further cutting and shortening clips to meet the requirements. However, I underestimated the difficulty of this task, particularly in maintaining video quality while reducing length. I focused on trimming the beginnings and ends of clips initially but found it insufficient to meet the time constraint. Consequently, I had to resort to cutting sections from the middle of clips, being

Wrapping Up the Scenes

Hey blog, I'm back to share the latest updates from our film project! Today marked the culmination of all our filming efforts, bringing us one step closer to completing our movie. Luckily, the scene we were filming today took place in the same location as our previous shoots, eliminating any concerns about finding a suitable filming spot. It was crucial for this scene to be close to the area where our first scene was shot, as there's a moment where a character glances back at the initial location. Since my character wasn't part of this particular scene, I dedicated my energy to assisting with camera movements. Fortunately, the other actors who volunteered for this project were present and eager to lend a hand behind the scenes. Before diving into filming, we decided to run through the scene a few times to ensure everyone was comfortable with their roles. Thankfully, the camera movements required weren't overly complex, and having recently purchased a tripod made it easi

Welcome to our filming blog, where we take you behind the scenes of our latest project shot at the beautiful Easterlin Park located in Oakland, Florida. Our story revolves around a mysterious case unfolding amidst the serene backdrop of nature. Let's dive into the storyboard breakdown to see how we captured the essence of this gripping narrative.   Scene 1:   Shot 1: We kick off with an establishing shot, showcasing the lush surroundings of Easterlin Park, setting the stage for our unfolding drama.   Shot 2: People gather, their curiosity piqued, as they observe something of interest.   Shot 3: Over-the-shoulder shot captures an intense conversation unfolding among our characters, hinting at the tension to come.   Shot 4: The group reaches a consensus on their plan of action, laying the groundwork for the investigation ahead.   Shot 5: A forensic photographer outlines their strategy, emphasizing the importance of their stay in the park.   Shot 6: The group divides into pai

Finally Starting to film

Image
Hey there! Back with an update on our filming progress. We kicked off today by shooting scene 1, as we agreed to split filming across several days due to everyone's limited availability. Also, since we needed specific lighting close to sundown, spreading out the filming was essential. Scene 1 was thankfully short, so it didn't demand too much from us today. I took on the role of Detective Carter, for which I had prepared the appropriate attire based on my earlier research. However, I ran into a snag when I couldn't find a tie to complete the look. Luckily, one of our groupmates had an extra tie on hand, saving the day. Once we all gathered at the filming location, we scouted for the perfect spot and set up the tripod along with other equipment and props. With everything in place, we decided to run through the dialogue and do a practice run of the scene to ensure smooth execution during filming. Thankfully, our rehearsal paid off, and the actual filming went smoothly, allow

Resuming The film

Hey there blog, I'm back again to share our latest filming adventures! Today marked the continuation of our film project, as we delved into shooting the second scene. Fortunately, the location for this scene aligned with our previous one, making it easy for everyone to arrive promptly. However, since this scene didn't involve all members from last time, one actor wasn't needed, simplifying our setup. With fewer actors involved this time, the rest of us could focus on operating the camera, ensuring we captured the scene perfectly. This division of labor allowed those of us in front of the camera to concentrate solely on our acting performances. Just like last time, we stuck to our tried-and-tested method of rehearsing the scene multiple times before committing to a final take. We learned from past experience that this approach yielded much better results. Given that this scene carried significant weight in the film, it required more dialogue and intricate movements from me c

Music For The Video

Image
Hey there! I'm back with an update. Today, I delved into researching music for the film. Since it's mostly dialogue-driven, I focused on finding instrumental tracks that fit the genre well – quieter tunes with ambient sounds. I scoured various music platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud and found some promising songs. However, I hit a roadblock when I realized I needed  permission to use certain tracks, which can take time to obtain. So, I shifted gears and looked for copyright-free or royalty-free music on YouTube, which offered more info and an easier search process. I started compiling a list of potential songs to streamline the selection process and plan to share it with the group for input. Considering using multiple songs to add variety crossed my mind too. After narrowing down the list to five tracks, I'll present it to the group tomorrow. That's the update for today, catch you later!

Preparing to film!

Hey there, just checking in! Today, our group dove into prepping for filming by researching the supplies we'll need, like props and tools for different scenes. First up, I looked into costumes since I'll be playing the detective role. Turns out, detectives don't wear uniforms like officers; instead, they usually go for suits or formal wear. Good news is, I've got some formal shirts and pants that'll work perfectly. Then, we discussed filming tools. Since pro cameras were out of our budget, we're using a groupmate's iPhone, which has a decent camera. But we still needed stability gear, so we're getting a tripod stand and a gimbal stabilizer for those moving shots. The stabilizer was a bit pricey, but I found a cheaper option online. Next, we brainstormed props for the scenes. We'll definitely need biodegradable white paint or tape for outlines, and we're considering red paint for blood, though we're not set on that yet. Luckily, these items a
